“I watched most of the rally. As far as “turn back to God” goes, I’ve yet to see any evidence in this country of a turning away. Oh, I know, there’s “godless liberals”, “killing babies”, “saving marriage” and all that. But, that supports my point. A rally which could draw an estimated crowd of close to 300,000 isn’t exactly an example of having turned away from God. We are far from a godless society. “God” is everywhere - 24x7, tv, radio, print. Truly getting away from “God” in our society takes significant effort. I haven’t been anywhere in this country on a Sunday morning and been unable to see “God” on tv or listen to “God” on the radio. “God” is alive and well. Everyone else is fighting an uphill battle for even a small percentage of the attention “God” is getting by comparison. As rally’s go, Beck AND Sharpton had no shortage of platitudes. Beck is no great orator. The Sharpton rally was underwhelming in comparison. By visual appearance more like storefront (Sharpton) vs Tabernacle - no pun intended (Beck). Each preaching to the faithful. More blacks than whites (Sharpton). More whites than blacks (Beck). IMO, MLK’s day has come and gone. The movement - an historical, momentuous artifact. Moving on.”
